Drama & Theatre Studies

Students of all abilities enjoy this popular subject, which includes visits to various stage productions and theatres as part of the coursework.

Key Stage 3
All girls at the school take drama at this level, with inter-house events playing an important part in forging their identity within the school. They develop basic drama skills and learn to communicate through self-appraisal.

Key Stage 4
Study at this level focuses on two distinct elements, a written and a practical analysis of a production. We encourage students to experiment with different theatre styles and practitioners within a supportive environment.

Girls widen their appreciation and understanding of drama and theatre, experiencing an increase in self and group awareness. They grow in confidence, develop creative skills and hone social skills.

Sixth Form
This fascinating and challenging course complements a range of other AS/2 subjects such as History, Classics and English.
It develops interest and enjoyment of theatre as both an audience member and a practitioner, as girls enhance their interpretative and practical skills through various activities. Students develop their knowledge and understanding of social, political and cultural contexts and the work of prescribed practitioners.

Extra Curricular Drama
We present an inter-house drama event each year, and a whole school production with the Music Department every second year. Each week LAMDA hold speech and drama lessons at the school and we frequently head to the West End to see current theatre productions.
